Grow some of these licorice flavored herbs in your garden, and use the leaves in salads and the seeds (crushed or whole) in pastries, cakes, and other baked goods. Anise is a smaller herb plant, growing to approx. 12-16" tall, with lacy green foliage that resembles wild carrots. Anise has small white flowers in umbrella shaped clusters atop feathery stems, and appear about 3-4 months after planting. Plant anise herb seeds in a nice sunny spot in soil that has adequate drainage.
