This Native Prairie Mix contains a blend of wildflowers and tall grasses designed to recreate that natural 'prairie' look in your landscape. Meant to be left un-mowed, this mix consists of native as well as non-native varieties that have been selected based on their adaptability, low-maintenance, drought-tolerance, and long blooming season. Perfect for natural areas, roadsides, borders, or anywhere you'd like to create a more natural landscape. Grows to approx. 3-5 ft. tall.
Mix is approximately 50% wildflowers, and 50% tall grasses.
The Native Prairie Mix specifically includes Perennial Lupine, Purple Coneflower, Blue Wild Indigo, Showy Tick Trefoil, Ox-Eye Sunflower, Thickspike Gayfeather, Illinois Bundleflower, Greyheaded Coneflower, Rattlesnake Master, Bergamot, Smooth Aster, New England Aster, Little Bluestem, Big Bluestem, Indiangrass, and Summer Switchgrass.
Seeding Rate:
1/2 lb. covers approx. 1000 sq. ft.
1 lb. covers approx. 2000 sq. ft.
To maintain your Native Prairie, leave un-mowed throughout the growing season. Once flowers have completed flowering. you may mow prairie if desired. Once established, minimal watering is needed (once a month). If watered more frequently, the grass will grow more rapidly and smother the flowers in the mix.
