Tickseed Sunflower Seeds
Tickseed Sunflower is a showy, self-seeding, native North American annual wildflower that has abundant bright yellow, daisy-like flowers on slender stalks from late summer into early autumn. Produces flat, dark brown seeds with two barbed "teeth" (hence the common name ‘tickseed’). These barbs allow seeds to "hitchhike" by clinging to animal fur and clothing for dispersal. Prefers wetter planting sites, but performs well in open meadows too. Has a somewhat bushy growth habit, and attracts a variety of pollinators to the garden.
